Summary
This is the second report on a new aluminum oxide humidity sensing element first discussed in Sandia Corporation Technical Memorandum 222A-60-52. These elements, which were developed primarily for use in radiosonde weather measuring equipment, have a fast response over the entire humidity range and through a broad temperature range of -80°F to +135°F. The elements are a marked improvement over previous humidity sensing devices, and their use in specially designed testers allows measurements to be made which were previously unobtainable. Among their other desirable features, these elements are small and lightweight, can be made inexpensively of readily available materials, and can be mass produced.
