  • Circular to town committees in the district of Maine regarding the election to take place on Nov. 7, 1808. "Your Republican friends have great confidence in you as a committee; your duty is important--your greatest industry and active vigilance among your townsmen, is indispensably requisite."
  • Signed: John Chandler [and four others]
  • Followed by a certificate, dated Washington, Sept. 14th, 1808, from Hon. G. Duvall, Esq., comptroller of the Treasury, disproving "an atrocious and wicked lie, circulated by the Federalists, in relation to two millions of dollars, stated by them to be given by our government as tribute to France."
